A Brief History
In the Nineties, when grunge ruled and
the charts were dominated by bands who really 'meant' it,
The Palace Lido were one of the few that provided welcome
contrast. They were not alone, of course Springsteen springs
to mind - but he was very much US centric. During their heyday
The Palace Lido recorded a lot of upbeat, fun songs so did
not always get the credit they deserved. SVC Records intends
to change that however with the release of this compilation
'There's Not Enough Kindness'.
Containing the three huge hits that everybody remembers. 'It's
A Jungle At The Zoo' an up-tempo rockabilly number. 'Neo-Maxi
Zoom Dweebie' a novelty song that (to some people) destroyed
their credibility and 'Off/On The Rain (I Saw You)' a lovely
ballad, more recently revived by Oran 'Juice' Jones (who had
a huge worldwide smash with it). The Palace Lido have always
known a thing or two about pop. And the best thing about this
album is the fact that it is crammed full of proper pop tunes.
