The Phantom Carriage
A Brief History
The Phantom Carriage came into existance sometime in the early Nineties when Mike Seed & Empire State Human started messing around with tapes and an old Casio SK5 sampling keyboard.
Many many tapes were recorded, but around the end of the Millenium they went their seperate ways to concentrate on their highly successful (?) solo careers and it wasn't until 2005 when Mike and ESH decided to get together again and do it properly (whatever that means) and record the album 'Late Comers' which was released on CD with a gorgeous hand made sleeve on the ever excellent Anticlock Records. (Sadly the CD is sold out now, but is available for fee download below.)
With Mike supplying the voice and instrumentation and ESH supplying the noises they also drafted in the help of two friends. The Palace Lido recorded the stark music for 'Swineherd Passes' transforming Mike's dark tale into an even darker tale, and Buggane who recorded the hypnoticly swirly 'The Fourth Angel Is Concealed'.
The album was very warmly recieved... "Dark uneasy and on edge... there is not much like this around!" "One of the darkest, most fucked up weird folk records I’ve heard in a while".

Step forward two years and The Phantom Carriage are back, this time the line-up features Mike Seed and The Palace Lido (with The Grinning Ape featuring on 'A Brackish Spirit') who have crafted another album full of twisted tales and twitchy sparse electronica called 'Skull Exposed to March Rain'.

Both albums are availabe to download completely free below and contain all the print quality artwork.
